The Story Behind “The Barilko”

Fans of Canadian music and hockey will recognize the name from the famous Tragically Hip song “Fifty Mission Cap.”

The Barilko is named after legendary Toronto Maple Leafs player Bill Barilko, who scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal before tragically disappearing in a plane crash shortly after.
